Just sharing. I like carnival glass but for some reason, it isn't very popular these days.

So pretty!! I don't have an amber but this is a lovely color and the butterflies are so sweet. I find carnival glass so mesmerizing. My mother had a couple bowls she used and they were the only thing in her curio that I wanted. I think people do still like them it's just that there are soooo many on the market available. I always get compliments on mine when I used them as snack/candy dishes for guests. I'm doing my best to bring them back! :D

I have a soft spot for milk glass, sometimes we like what we like even if no one else likes it!

Some carnival is no longer desirable, like anything in Marigold color. But there are still collectors out there for rare pieces or pieces that are just very pretty, very nicely irridized, or an unusual form. They just don't bring the prices they once did where just the fact of collecting carnival glass was popular.

I like milk glass too, especially the very nice large vases that Westmoreland used to make. Many young people like it as well. Certain forms, like cake stands, never seem to go out of style. When I was still selling, milk glass was popular in the mall, especially if it was made by Fenton or Westmoreland. That grayish white murky stuff is not popular, might as well throw it away.

Mesmerizing. I think I remember Australian glass with the same iridizing effect.
That seems to be my specialty.:playful:

A photo of a corner cabinet at my former house (inherited from mom) where she kept most of her Carnival glass.

Pretty!! That's exactly what those corners were made for. :D That swirl pitcher on bottom is quite interesting!

That is a bonny one. I've not seen one with butterfly decor before. They are usually adorned with grapes and peacocks. Perhaps it is one of the rarer more collectible ones?

I inherited an iridescent carnival glass bowl from my mother, which I always thought beautiful. I will start a new thread to ask my Qs about it. Carnival glass1 640ppi.jpg Carnival glass3 640ppi.jpg Carnival glass6 outside upsde dn 640.jpg

Carnival glass is so engaging! I remember when it was HOT in the US but then all kinds of reproductions came out and novices were afraid to pay for anything. Icondule's bowl is marigold, the most common color. Don't know the pattern but I bet glass collectors will chime in!

This carnival piece (Northwood "Rosette") has an interesting story.

Decades ago, I attended a church auction and bid on a box of assorted items for 25¢. When I brought it home, this dish was in it. Back then (late 1960s or early 1970s) melted record bowls were popular.

When my mom went through the box she thought it was one of those (i.e. junk) and put it back in the box which was relegated to the basement. A few years after, she become interested in vintage glassware and remembered this item and brought it out. It was one of her favorite pieces after that.

I'm curious about the marigold plate on the top right of the corner cabinet Deb. I've not seen that before. Does that have little chicks in the middle?

Have to show one of my favorite pieces of carnival glass and the only "new" one I have. Don't tell anybody. It's a 2000 Fenton reproduction of Imperial acanthus. DSC_Fenton Imperial.JPG paid $100 for it 15 years ago, probably worth 20 bucks today. Still not sorry.

I feel that way about my marigold Northwood Sunflower Bowl. I think I paid $85 for it many years ago and now it worth about $25. I still love it!

No, it looks like a log cabin in the woods. It's an Imperial "Homestead" plate.
