    Thanks Bro-Should be interesting to see what it might say,hopefully not 'Taiwan 1978' !
    Seems to have some age,but then the Chin masters of replication deception are capable of almost anything ! Either way-it was mondo cheap.

    I even like the wear on it. Gives it a lot of character.

    AI says

    The Chinese script on the base of the rice barrel appears to be a list of functions or instructions related to using a rice cooker or preparing rice, based on similar markings found on rice cookers.
    The characters likely translate to:
    • Top characters:
      • 煮饭 (zhǔ fàn) - Cook rice
      • 煮粥 (zhǔ zhōu) - Cook porridge
      • 稀饭 (xī fàn) - Gruel
    • Bottom characters:
      • 婴儿粥 (yīng'ér zhōu) - Baby porridge
      • 热饭 (rè fàn) - Warm rice
      • 煲汤 (bāo tāng) - Simmer soup
      • 营养保温/关 (yíngyǎng bǎowēn / guān) - Keep warm nutritionally / Turn off
      • :eek::rolleyes::eek::woot::dead:

    For real ? So it's kind of a mini-ad on the base of the barrel,what a hoot ! Leave no stone or barrel unturned when it comes to marketing.
    Thanks Chin-makes sense.

    I think it just says 'rice'
    Rice = 米 (mi)

    A friend from Shanghai replied that the sign on the left means love, happiness. He couldn't make out the one on the right. He said that they are now using simplified hieroglyphs. The old spelling is only preserved within Taiwan.

    Thanks for the FB Roman & Chin-deciphering Chinese is no joke and things evolving/devolving (?) in language symbology.
    The new 'simplified hieroglyphs' have taken over similar to the way cursive's dissapearing in the U.S.
