gilt copper Zodiac seals

Hello everyone, i have bought this replica set of the imperial collection of the palace of purity. 12 gilt zodiac seal stamps. I have seen high asking prices for just the seals alone. But i hope it has value. Each seal weighs 385 grams.

 

That's a little over 10 pounds Av...wow!

 

What's copper going for by the pound these days-sure that's not GF. New or ancient ?

 

A bit over $5, I think...

 

$500 buckz of copper !!!?

'Goldie and the Lox', it was a Klezmer band I used to be in.

 

Well not everything is as it seems. It turnes out that the seals maybe are a base white metal (lead?) coated whith a thin layer of copper and then gilded. Is it 24 karat? The seals feel cold to the toutch when not handled for a while. Does lead feel cold to the toutch?

 

Lessee...$5 times 10# equals: $50.

Not a completely unwarranted theorem Whit, the real question is though, what exactly is this mysterious 'white metal' Hunt mentioned-Titanium,Rhodium,Iridium,perhaps even Osmium ?
Amigo-I'm thinkin' we'll need to drill a tad deeper to ultimately solve this infernal conundrum.
