External-Clapper Bronze Bell, by Richard Fisher

    It's about 5" in diameter, 7" tall; nicely cast bronze. I believe it is made to be hung from the small ring at right-center in pic 1. The necessary clapper is missing, apparently; it would hang from the hole at bottom right (same pic) an' would need to be about 4" long, to strike the bell near the rim...I think.
    I've puzzled over all that linkage for a few years, an' it's either gonna get rigged to ring, or get pitched!
    The mark is that of Fisher, at US Bell in Maine. I've requested help there about whether the clapper an' its ring can be purchased for replacement.

    I don't see a hook/loop inside for a clapper. Did it have one, or did you just bang on the outside?

    That's because its designed for an external clapper.
