    He's 2 3/8" high. 2 1/8" wide, 1" deep; weight is 12.5 gm. Sheet silver(?) is ~0.35 mm thick.

Appears to be made to cap or cover a corner of some odd configuration; note the holes beneath an' on each side...crudely punched, not drilled. Uncommon treatment of facial features for a Buddha, particularly the exaggerated nose, but I'm no expert. His nipples an' belly are showing through a garment? of clouds?...that's all guesswork, friends.

I have no idea how I acquired him, or when. He was black with tarnish yesterday, but cleaned up nicely, eh? If y'all can better illuminate this fellow, I'll be most grateful! Thanks for lookin'!

He looks like Hotei, a Buddist monk who is one of the Japanese gods of good fortune.

The one on the upper left seem very close...an' must have covered 2 or 3 fingers, like mine. I think you've hit it squarely, Charlie

That seems a more plausible explanation.
Ditto. Painful too, with those wide flanges. Besides, upper class Chinese and other (South)East Asians already had nailguards that covered the top of the finger as well. Those fit perfectly without the use of cords (yes, I have tried;)).
