antique to me? Has raised detail.
    It is 19th century?
It’s 8cm x 8cm. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you and keep well

Charming tile. I wonder if it was once part of a tile tableau.
It looks 1960s to me, but I could be wrong.

Thanks AJ. Appreciate the comment. Iam sure you are right.I agree it’s such a small size it must be part of something. I was thinking older or antique but also those vibrant colours made me second guess that and think maybe not.

I'd think 1960s too. And very of the period.

Reminds me of the Morton salt tiles I have. Except mine are blue.

Aside from the vibrant primary colors, three things stand out strongly to me: her simple collar, the plaintive eye-contact expression on her face, an' her evocative left hand with open palm an' fingers spread...together, these offer more than a suggestion of a much deeper story.
If, as AJ wonders, it was one of several (many?) others in a tableau, it would be fascinating to know what grand saga was depicted there.
I cannot justify my feeling that it's older...within a couple decades either side of 1900; bicbw.
I love that wee tile, Boland...an' wish I had found it! Thanks!!

Interesting. I read the figure as a boy. Peter Pan collar. On what may be a school smock.

    I'll concede, Debora...it could be a boy.

Is that a faint stamp on the back in the middle about 1/3 the way up? Looks like MCM or MCW.

Any way you can make it more visible?

    Thanks for the reply Whitt.
    Interesting your comments.
I glad you also like it. It also ‘feels’ older to me but is probably not (so 60’s) I agree would have been great to get the ‘full picture’

Thanks. I can definitely now see what you are referring to. Does sort of look like 3 letters starting with a ‘m’ but Iam
not sure it’s deliberate mark/stamp (maybe it just looks that way by accident ?) Still a very good observation

We see a child with an umbrella and our ancient memory dredges up the Morton Salt girl! LOL. That's what I thought of. [IMG]
