    Good day, all.

Hoping someone on this site can help me... I picked up a lovely, antique 1945 edition of Pride and Prejudice by Doubleday and Company.

It is a special book, hard-to-find, and has both black and white illustrations throughout, along with beautiful, full-color insert pages.

The interesting thing about my book is that there is a printing error and there are uncut pages throughout the entire book, with some pages shorter than others.

Feel strongly that it has great value, but need help with a true valuation.

Would greatly appreciate help from any antique book experts.

    Thank you, kindly!

You have a vintage book (antique is 100+ years). I'm assuming it's not the signed collector's edition? In which case the typical range is $40-60, with outliers lower and higher for differences in condition. You can look at ebay solds to see what the market is like. Condition is everything so pay attention to that in your comparisons.

Book errors afaik are really only a big deal on first editions of first prints, which obviously this is not. If if was me I might price it a bit higher than the range and entertain offers. You can also set it to online auction and let the market decide.

eBay is one source for checking values, You can also check on online sites that specialize in books such as biblio.com. Fyi, it's always helpful to post photographs with your queries. Helps us do a better job in helping you.

Is THIS ONE like yours? They are asking $78 US. I've seen the same edition listed online both cheaper and more expensive. It's certainly not hard to find.
If yours is different, we'd love to see a photo. :)
I agree with mirana that a misprint in your edition does not affect value for the better. And uncut pages were not all that unusual back then, either, especially in the more cheaply-made editions.

Not to worry, @Jane Austen. Takes all new members a post or two to get used to the forum. Since condition is so important to value, we always like to see photographs of bindings. And photographs of the title page and copyright page are important for identifying the edition.

    Appreciate the tips, Debora!
Thank you so much - may take photos later... will post, if I do!
The book is lovely and in excellent condition. Others I have seen online had obvious signs of wear and/or stains on the cover.

Unfortunately, edition is more important than condition.

    Agree.

So, is your edition different than the one linked? Curious minds want to know! :D
