Sorry, I can't get the pic from ebay to paste. :(
I'll post my own pics when I get the bracelet.

Oddly, I had someone asking me about turqoise and corals today. She's Chinese. :p It's weird to know more about how to eyeball chalk turquoise than someone from its home country.

I don't know how to do that, but I will look into it. That will prove very helpful with my new coral obsession. I'm supposed to get the bracelet tomorrow! Super excited!

Thanks so much bluumz for the screenshot tip! Turns out I needed to use it after all. Great tool and easier than I expected on a desktop.
I received the bracelet. It does not look the same as the picture in the listing.
The striations are not visible, in person, or in my photos.
Finally, after going back outside with my glasses on AND a magnifying glass, I could see the striations. I need new equipment.
Here is the ebay picture, followed by the shots from my camera.

I see the striations in the first image just fine. They're harder to pick out in the new ones. The beads look heavily dyed, which may be making a diffence.

Yeah, that was the listing pic. They definitely looked less fake in his picture.
That's why I decided to buy them. I figured they were dyed when I saw that bold color. Would they be bamboo coral?

unfortunately, yes. How much did you pay? Also, even though it’s super cheap and you decide to keep it, the dye might not be 100% safe for wearing

If this is real precious coral, it will cost like £1500 if momo coral, and twice higher if aka coral

Oh no! I didn't know that the dye could be unsafe. I only paid $15. They are pretty, and I was going to wear them regardless to value. I'll hang them on my dresser as a reminder of my first coral mistake. I'm on my summer vacation from work for the next few weeks. I'll be looking for a nice starter piece that's not dyed.
    Thanks, so much!

You never know what's been used. I'm told Ty-d-bowl was used as blue dye sometimes for some beads. I wish the Chinese exporters would just leave this coral white if it must be used at all.

One you want might to look for is fossil coral. It does no living creature any harm. The colors are gray, golden, brown etc, often mixed in one strand. I'm used to seeing gray-brown as in "petosky" stone.

:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: I would be mad as hell if the seller promised Henry Cavill Witcher and I got coral instead. I like coral but it's not the same! :joyful::p Thanks for posting the lovely photo. I enjoyed.

I too need the eyewear and possibly a loupe to see some striations. They can be quite fine.:pompous:

I just got this antique Japanese momo coral bead today which can be your reference. Same pattern can be found on Mediterranean coral too. Note how fine those growth lines are- they are thinner than your fingerprint. Will make a post on it with more images today
