    Hi folks

found this beauty today at a boot sale(3) inside a cheap modern cardboard ring box (the lady mentioned she just put it inside a box)

zero hallmarks (that i can see or have found)

all i've done is wash it in warm water

seems to test as gold (only have a 9ct solution)

looking at the pics there looks like odd colourisation though in the stones (or behind)

    any thoughts or info appreciated

It looks to me like the metal the stones are set in (or perhaps the solder) is corroding. I discovered the hard way that even if the piece is gold, if there’s solder involved, it might not be. But I am far from an expert.

The trick might be to get between the stones and the metal. I can’t tell for sure but it looks to me like that’s where the crud is. Good luck!

The stones look like single cut, they don't have the brilliance that a modern cut has.

I’ve also found that cleaning soaking rings in DAWN dishwashing soap cleans them up like a son of a gun & the diamonds sparkle like no tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!! If exceptionally dirty, a soft toothbrush does the rest while still soaking…….

absolutely holly, i did wonder where the sparkle was ;) i've got an earring set in platinum like it (single cut) and its as dull as dish water

thanks johnnyboy, starting to feel a bit guilty now on reflection.......but the day was a whirlwind of buys and the ring wasn't/isn't marked and remember thinking........yeah right, as if

theres been so many times where i've taken a small risk on something and its turned out money (though small) wasted

Looks a bit like a Thai princess ring. Certainly Asian made imo, which could account for the single cut stones.
Do the stones test as diamonds? With those colours they could be zircons.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It is lovely. Looks like you got another good deal!
