Charity shop buy 12 x 14 inches. I pushed out the boat a bit (£8) for this despite no signature because I liked it and thought it was a confident hand. The Framers still exist but not with this old logo but maybe they worked with this artist a lot and might recognise the work so I’ll try and contact them.
What do you think of it?

That's nice, and a good price. We live around farms, and see cows every day. They're quite cliquey.

There are a couple of galleries in Tarbert who might know the artist. Maybe also a local art group.

I think it's lovely. An unusual subject. And so serene.

Good suggestion above. Likely a gallery-bought souvenir painting by local artist.

nice thick wash for a watercolour, just clouding over ? like the way they are pleasingly organised

I wondered if it could have been taken from the artists sketchbook.
I will have to re mount it at some point so maybe it will turn up some more info.

Re price, I try and think of buying items in terms of buying a cup of coffee in a cafe, this would be about the cost of 3 cups here in U.K. so not too bad when I think of it like that.

    I like it too-classic WC,clean clear hand-not overworked.
Re: 8 pounds capsizing the old boat ? When I see something these days hits my soul-I'll go for it if it's not insane $$$. That doesn't mean my Picker Brain aint' still living in the 70's-just that those 50 cent knicknacks aren't in this timeline anymore (even tho my pension is !!!).
The superb Fish & Chips place down the road runs us abt $35-$40 for takeout these days.Still a shock but the PTSD's lessening.
PS-I'll die tho still looking for those 50 yr old prices !

An accomplished artist by the looks of it. Really nice use of colour and shade. The pale wash below the cows makes them stand out, and makes you focus on them. Otherwise they'd be lost in the landscape. I would enjoy it on my wall at home.

I thought I knew what a "cows" piece would look like when i clicked but nope this was unexpected! It's really atmospheric and beautiful. The artist did a fantastic job. It's more a landscape than a country scene. I would not buy cow art for myself, but if I'd seen this i would have! :D

I always love these Scottish watercolours, they capture the feel of the landscape so well.

I still dream of those fifty-cent finds from the 60's & 70's-it was all so fresh then !
