i thought exactly the same evey, but it just sort of slots back in (so there was nothing holding it in, in the first place)

i agree there have been repair (solder points) but they weren't connected to anything (or were anymore)

oh and it hasn't shifted a jot

those fasteners near the top (the 4) should all have been connected/soldered to the other bar, but have all come loose, so theres nothing holding it in place apart from the want to be together, and luck

    back to the drawing board

ain't bothered in the slightest, if it can be repaired badly,it can also be repaired well. (don't want to sound like a kn*b) but did mechanical engineering as a trade so a bit of soldering ain't gonna be too hard ;)

definitely not gold (for a second i thought a possibility ((the way it scratched on without grit, and colour looked consistent)

but rolled gold on brass is probably what it is and explains that ( the little worn area of edges look like rolled gold loss and not plated

.......looking at the pic, i can still see slight remains of gold in the acid so perhaps thats the slight rolled gold remnants

£90 is nothing compared to some prices i have seen

.............the guy or Gal better prepare themselves for a few questions i think.......;)

Good idea! I took a PMC class a long time ago- precious metal clay, but without the clay and access to a kiln the information isn't worth much. The rudimentary ASL class that came along later in the same building was more useful in the long run.

typo corrected. I can't even blame the newish keyboard, just the clapped-out fingers.
