Minton is a strong contender for me. Going to keep searching though until I find something more concrete. The other jug on the eBay page has hooked crosses in the decor. Minton used this symbol as one of their year marks. A weak link but another one.

Be nice if I could get a link to Dresser too but prob hasn't got that quality.

Minton however would not be a shocker. The gilding on the piece alone is done really well, and if they didn't do that glaze, they would have if they could have.

If it is c 1870 then I do think Minton would be clearly marked. Perhaps a pencil rubbing of the name on the rim would show up better.

I could try a pencil rubbing of it. I don't think it would find the 'missing' letters though and I'm pretty shoddy at the technique.

But sometimes you will see a bit of another letter and that will help in guessing what it is. Worth a try, eh?

Sorry, I used to be a defeatist but I gave it up. Anything that doesn't draw blood or cost money is worth a shot.

These are the best of the rubbings. I tried using lighter strokes and pastels too but the most effective method was to use side of a pencil. A few deep deliberate strokes rather than lots of lighter ones. More strokes seems to cause more muddiness.

I got various results. I kept all the ones that looked like Minton and binned the ones that said 'Leonardo Collection'.

I want to see Minton, too, but it looks like a double T in the middle. Good for you to give it a try! I'm now trying to think of factories with a double T.
