Must be why I've had decent luck.... Since I've never moved.... :hilarious:

I'm trying to think of anything I've broken/damaged, and I'm sure there have been, but either it wasn't a big deal to replace or I fixed it I guess.

The husband has broken 4 dishes, including breaking our favorite extremely rare art pint glass ON TOP of my vintage goblet, chipping it. He's known for "hulk smashing" things so all my delicate items I keep in study furniture he doesn't go near. He was trying to kill a flying bug by clapping his hands wildly together yesterday near my "safe zone" storage of some antique wedgwood and i told him FORGET THE BUG. LET IT GO. GET AWAY FROM THERE. :bored::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: He backed off.

My husband packed our last house up, a box of my grandmother’s porcelain things he used as a Stepstool. He thought they were books. I broke one thing cleaning, her hat pin holder I elbowed it while vacuuming I’m still upset with both of us. Her perfume bottle collection was in the boxes, bubble wrapped but they had no chance as he stood on it. Our old cat got into my jewelry box & chewed a gold bracelet, yes he was special needs.

Omfg the way my husband would have run to safety if he'd done that to a box of my sentimental items--!! :rage::bag:

I try to husband-proof absolutely anything I know I'd be real upset for him to smash, but yeah he still finds ways. Just doesn't know his own strength and size. The plate and cup breaking I just accept as an eventual hazard of using "the good stuff" so I'm never mad about that. Just load up the eBay alerts and hope it comes back around at some point. Seriously considering buying a second set of Halloween plates we love because I know he's gonna be reaaaaal sad the day he inevitably breaks one. :p

That is exactly what I do, “husband proof”. I have a tall glass piece that is in a niche for this reason. I once had someone take a very expensive wine glass & use it for water they pressed the ice thing so hard they shattered the wine glass. I no longer use them with company.

Well this was not part of my collection but instead a piece I found at an estate sale years ago. It was a MJ Christmas piece that was a sleigh. I was so so happy to find it to sell. But when I picked it up to take pics, the runners on the sleigh broke off.
I did sell it discounted and mentioned that the runners were not attached any more but will be included in the sale but the new owner would have to repair it.

I did get one question from a potential buyer... they asked if it would be hard to fix. I told them I have no idea at all so it would be up to them to try to fix it.
It was purchased. But I can still remember how my heart sank when I lifted that cutie up and busted it.

I am always of the mind set did anyone get hurt first. He had no idea what it was until I opened the box my face said it all. He was lucky the kids were near by & at the time 3 & 4. What was worse the Friday before we put our house on the market a few months before we were robbed. It was a big loss for us. I can easily move past many things except anything from my Grandparents taken or damaged.

My friend when putting away clean dishes in the hutch knocked one of my Georgian air twist wine glasses off the shelf. Insult to injury a shard made it into my foot. I keep the pretty stem in its place as a tribute and warning. That was a $200-$300 blooper. I mean that’s not what I paid but it was a nice one.

With the internet, especially groups like this, a little research can make mistakes avoidable. I just learned that. Duh.
One of my favorite pieces of glass spontaneously cracked in two. I used it to hold postage stamps. One morning I got up,.. it was in two. I superglued it and put it away in a display cabinet. Last week I went to visit it, picked it up, it fell apart, destroyed an antique wine glass, and became 6 pieces instead of 2. Wrong glue. World at my fingertips. Wrong glue.

Had a really pristine piece of blue Roseville pinecone that I was taking pictures of so I could list it. I was being so so careful after the pictures. I so so carefully picked it up and cracked it right into the light I was using. Huge chip on the rim. When that happens I usually want to sell it as quick as possible and get it out of my sight (and hopefully my memory :) I listed it for a fairly low price after a little touchup and sold it.
