A bit of help please? I believe it’s from Birmingham because of the anchor & lion. I can’t find who has those initials and I about strained an eye trying to make out whats going on with the last mark. :hungover: BAC294B0-220F-4897-A99A-98B450CD58A8.jpeg 0A0B29ED-BD13-4419-B2F3-A64D20AC4625.jpeg 0D8C5C2D-D062-4331-A428-256D32708EE7.jpeg

What are the initials as you see them? I see a K and an R. Is there more?

K & R is what I see too no matter which way I hold it. I thought that could be who made it?

In theory that's who made the metal part of the ring and presented it for assay,

Are you sure there is an ampersand between K and R?

    “K” and “R”. There isn’t an ampersand.

Just wanted to make sure. I think there has to be another letter - on the left of course, since there's no space on the right. There is no KR maker in Birmingham. Unfortunately there's no way to easily search for _KR.

Do you suppose it got bitten off somehow?

The mark doesn’t look like it would have space for more. It almost looks like a banner of some type.

I was thinking that part was worn or deformed somehow in the wearing.

A great possibility. Hadn’t considered it but your right.

Just tryin'.....I'd almost say that looks like a smooshed beetle on the far right...... BWDIK......AI Gigapixel program.....it doesn't always clarify well....

But that does show us that last “smooshed beetle” has a clipped upper corner.

Could it be NR? Far right should be a date letter, but seems to be from Chinese year of the smooshed beetle.

I’m dragging my polish cloth out and giving it a good shine in the morning. See if it doesn’t come out looking like a letter instead of a bug smear. :joyful:

    @Bakersgma
I'm not sure jewelers marks would be listed with silversmiths - or would they?
Agree with Bronwen - the smooshed beetle is the year date.

Looks like a fake mark from China or elsewhere. Maybe no one else sees what I do,very clear in post#11.

I agree: that's a wannabee mark, the anchor and lion shapes are way off. Cartouches are messy as heck, even if it were badly struck.

It is a pretty ring, but I agree with fake marks. The lion has turned into a poodle with a pompom tail, and the smooshed beetle is probably an invention from Guangdong.
In recent years the Chinese have flooded the market with fake European period style jewellery. I would get everything tested, metal, stones, the lot.
