Antique photoframe-Chinese themed

Hi all, got this as part of bundle deal.Fairly early 20th century?
Beautiful detail. Weighs about 1kg,size 22 x 29cm. Is this possibly also silverplated? Should I polish it? Found the exact looking one here.

IMHO, no...it has a lovely, uniform age-appropriate patina...as it should.

In Japanese mythology, dragons are traditionally depicted with three toes, in contrast to the four-toed dragons often seen in Chinese mythology.

 

I think it is a Japanese antimony piece, don't polish!

These very pronounced 3D dragons are generally Japanese (export).
And as kyra said, it looks like antimony, much used in Japanese export pieces before 1940.
