I was at a second hand shop and saw this table for $150,but being a complete furniture twit-couldn't tell you if it was 1860's or modern Thai fantasy.
I wondered if I could get some opinions from you folks out there, old or newish ?
@verybrad @Ghopper1924 and everyone else who wants to chime in. As always-Thanks !

lovely carving underneath....but the top is strange to me.... as it looks like multiple burls that were pressed and glued together..??

Nice table for a good price. I was thinking the top looked maybe veneer? So is it actually all solid? Would like to see how it looks underneath.Must be a heavy thing

First thought is that it's a more modern (1990's?) revival style table but I am not an expert so wait for others.

Ditto. The staining in the crevices and there are small gaps where the legs join the central post/base(?).
    Maybe made in Indonesia?

Would like to see more pics but my first reaction is also that this is newer. Specifically, I don't like the way we see sanding marks and some of the carving is a bit crude. These can be seen on the base photo. Have drawn crude arrows at two places on the legs pointing to sanding marks. Arrow at top points to crude carving. Splits in the wood are also typical of tropical imports. Color of the base really doesn't match the top all that well due to being totally different woods.

I'm (as you) thinking it's very likely a repro.Wood split, mediocre joint, and the odd stippling (bit crude) surrounding the acanthus scrolling leaves, def gives me pause.
I do like the really wild hodgepodge burl top though.
Thanks for all the really helpful feedback,it'd be gnawing at me to leave a 1-2K piece behind.

Not old to me either, but try finding a new solid wood piece for that price.

Newer, but a bargain at that price. Quite pretty, based on 1860s-ish prototypes
