Abercrombie Wall Sconce ?

Came across this fantastic candle holder wall sconce with stunning detail , it’s marked Abercrombie and would like to see if anyone can tell me about it.Quality looks really good all over and very heavy.Might be a piece missing from the bottom but doesn’t matter in such a nice piece of brass.

 

This one photo doesn't seem enough to go on. I can't make out that it's a candle holder except that you stated that. Maybe that's why no one is responding.

Oh, I didn't look there, I thought that was the same photo. It's really a nice sconce. It's likely older because Abercrombie hasn't sold anything but clothing and related items for some time.

 

Abercrombie & Fitch was a sporting goods company, along the lines of L.L. Bean but higher end. They outfitted Hemingway for safari. They did not produce brass sconces. You didn't tell us in what part of the world you found you sconce but a possible maker is Abercrombie & Son, a brass manufacturer based in London. Here they are in the 1864 William's Manufacturers' Directory.

Yes, I think that explains it. It's such a nice sconce, I wouldn't mind having one in my house if I wasn't afraid to burn candles so close to the wall, lol.

 

Sorry didn’t get back sooner thanks for the replies the newspaper ad is most likely the company .Ive seen something similar but they’re French made, this one made in England will research them a bit look interesting .
