Another piece made by Zohiko! This time a tobacco box with tray, arrived in all original packaging. Also came with a business card(?) from the maker. I think it was from earlier 20th century.

although the maki-e painting on this one is not as high quality as the tray I posted previously(attached in the end), but the design- covered with a shikishi, a painted card, is very unique. Thanks for looking!

Absolutely!:woot::woot: I like the way it looks like it is just loosely draped over the top. Very nice find, shammie.

I wonder if the shikishi is a real paper folded and painted, or crafted from lacquer and coal powder mixture too?:D

I think it is lacquer, which makes it even more amazing.:)

The card can likely be dated by the telephone number.

Nice find! Also there’s another lacquer bowl which has the same card dated 1928, so early 20th century seems valid:angelic:

the maker also signed on the package (wooden box) at the back of the lid, so yes I believe :p and the description on the front of the lid matches the tobacco box too, from the same hand

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?
