Found this at the market this morning. My find of the month and probably this year. Some scuffing on the outside of the tureen and chipping around the rim. Nothing too grizzly but I know glassies don't like this. It's 32cm tall and weighs 2.6kg.

Thank you. Is it normal for it to be unsigned? I've looked everywhere and can't find a scribble.

I don't know, but it looks like a real Moser piece to me. Not that I am an expert, but I have seen these before.
Have you googled to see if the other Moser tureens/urns of this type are signed?

Yes some mention a signature, some dont. When I saw the one with the (moser?) comment, it made me think wonder if I'm allowed to call it such on an assumption. It would be a lot of hard work to reproduce such a thing but still quite possible.

    Two hugely different valuations there.

True. US prices for Czech glass v. Czech prices. I am sure it also has to do with the sites, the Czech one being more like Gumtree etc.

And the presence of a signature maybe? Mdina and Isle of White glass increases in value exponentially with the presence of Michael Harris' signature. The $925 asking price does seem overinflated though in comparison to the others..

I don't think the US one mentions a signature, or did I miss that?
    Agree.

Well, that's a piece of glass that I probably would've wanted to come home with me. That gilded band is fantastic!

Yes I'm wondering how they made the pattern in the glass. Pressed or engraved?

yes, there are pieces of Moser that are unsigned,
Your piece is very nice but I'm not convinced it is by Moser. The one on the Czech site that AJ posted looks Moser (screenshot below), the panel cuts on the lid and base (which aren't on yours) add that little bit extra that make it stand out. That said, the finial/knob on yours does seem to have panel cuts, so not sure what to think. Weight is something too with Moser, it is heavy glass. I would expect from the size of your piece to have a good weight to it.
I've only had a few Moser pieces over the years, so I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. My Moser books are too high on the shelf for me to reach so I have to wait until my son arrives in a couple of hours to get them down. I'll have a look through them, maybe your piece will be in one of them:)

Oh thanks for the info but please don't burst my bubble :arghh:

The one in Czech has matching panel cuts on the lid and base. There are no such cuts on mine at all and it's all completely round including the finial. Trick of the light.

I await more info and the crushing of my dreams

Here is a rounded one also referred to as Moser: -

yikes, I'm not trying to burst your bubble, it is a nice piece:) Is yours heavy?

'It is an original and licensed reproduction, with vintage characteristics that add to its charm'

The one @TallCakes posted says it is a 'licensed reproduction', so that is something to look into.

I was just looking up 'licensed reproduction' Moser and came across this - looks like you can contact the company and they will help you:)
