IMG_8330-compressed.jpeg IMG_8331-compressed.jpeg IMG_8332-compressed.jpeg Hi everyone. I have this ring that is very much confusing me. I thought maybe y’all could help me understand it. It is another estate sale find. The top filigree part is clearly magnetic. However the sides and band are not. The band is testing as 14k white gold. I did scratch quite a bit for acid testing. I think it is solid and not plated. I also took the ring to a jewelry store. The salesman tested it with a gem tester (not sure what kind) and said the stones were testing as diamonds. Does anyone know why this ring might be magnetic? It has no marks on it.

It may be an alloy of platinum, I read they can include cobalt for jewellery pieces. Is it strongly or weakly magnetic?

Gorgeous ring, and it looks period.
Just one thing, the top isn't filigree, it is ajour, aka openwork. Filigree is made from thinly pulled metal wire, which is often twisted.
(I know some sellers call it filigree, but sellers are often wrong.;))

Thank you so much!! I have always called this filigree. Glad to now know the correct term for it!
