Ok, I guess to some of you, this is a boring milk glass vase. To me, ohhh, it is the utmost rare and unique opaline! I cannot find this plaid like rim anywhere!
The reason I think it may be Baccarat is only because I've found two sets of vases on the net with the same exact shape but theirs had twisted cane rims, not this plaid. They attributed their vases to Baccarat, but I've yet to find any concrete evidence with the vase shape. Mines a bit smaller at 26.6cm. Both sets I found online had painted floral decoration attributed to Jean Francois Robert, which would date it around 1850.
I bought it from ebay in Aug. and the pics I'm posting are the sellers.
Has anyone seen the rim before? I don't have a great Baccarat book, I'm hoping someone can confirm the maker. Thanks!

interesting edge/crest; but I'm not seeing plaid. the translucency is allowing the green strip/swirl to show through giving a slight appearance of plaid. I'm seeing vases by Clincy with somewhat twisted edges but the twisting in those if more three dimensional with grooving/depression

That vase is lovely! Have you put a black light on that rim by chance?

The green won't light up, but the milk glass might!

Lovely vase. Plenty of similar Fenton vases out there. Just not found one with that swirl in the rim.

Thanks so much everyone! I thought I was a little weird for loving it so much.
True Tallcakes, not technically tartan, but since I'm super into Scotts lately, I've decided to call it as such!
I've seen the twisted cane rims before, Clichy and Baccarat. These 3 are attributed to Baccarat. All at least two grand for a set. The third one is much more, I'm sure. All these were decorated though.
Still, I was happy when the seller took 100 bucks for mine.
Still a mystery, but my vase shape is identical as the red one below.

Not a Fenton shape Chinoiserie, and they only did solid colored, or clear crests.
They are known for taking much of their design style from antique glass though and loved the ruffle!

I don't think I've ever seen an unruffled Fenton piece! :woot:
