Featured Rock Otter figurine...............................A/S10

Hi folks

something i bought today in our village antiques shop

my Ai practically laughed at me stating it was a sea lion silly

so we've fallen out

not sure about it myself to be honest, but think its pretty cool

seems to be a slight pattern in the stone (if thats what it is)

mark to the back

any thoughts or info appreciated

 

My guess at the signature is L Binn

i'm guessing at a soapstone or alike, by the white showing in the signature

 

Might search 'Eskimo' + 'Argillite'

 

She has a strange signature if this is correct.

 

Name is Tetlow not Tetlon, she has a website.

theres a sort of famous ish film shot in and around our village (tarka the otter) and my uncle on my stepdads side was in it as one of the fishermen

 

blimey here he is (guy with the fork) died about 5 years ago now.....lovely guy

 

so if you ever wondered what a appledore fisherman sounds like

never acted a day in his life (as you probably can tell)

but weren't to bad actually (haven't seen it in years)

She does lovely work-beaut Chas ! Seems to be near Lastingham,North York Moors National Park.

Yep same one bud, the bridge location in the poaching scene looks very familiar but can't quite place

 

My favourite English village. Nice old village church and just about every cottage has roses. Whenever I was in the area, I had to visit it.

 

I like it. Nice find that,looks very tactile ..

 

How does she get Tetlow out of that signature? I just looked at many pages of her work and while it looks like her style I couldn't find an otter like this nor could I find an example of her signature. It just doesn't seem right and the person who posted it didn't even spell her name correctly. It just seems odd.

You could email her to confirm Charlie, and ask about the stone as it could be Kilkenny Limestone like this one. Nice pieces, expensive but I would have expected that.
