Where to buy custom engraved pendants or just nice pendants with space for an engraving?

I saw a couple Christmas gift themed posts and was inspired. I’m thinking of purchasing a few sterling pendants and one gold pendant to have engraved to remember a family member that passed this year. I’ve purchased very little new jewelry in my life and a crap load of vintage and antique jewelry. So when I look at prices for new silver pendants I nearly sh|t myself. I’m used to buying silver jewelry for peanuts, not many multiples of its intrinsic value. I guess a heart form would probably be good, but not a cheesy heart. Another shape could work too. If the place I buy them from also engraves them that would be convenient. I could also bring them to a local place that did a watch for me a couple years ago. Having things hand engraved is crazy expensive and requires a lot of advance notice it turns out. I don’t love the machine engraving, but I’m cheap. For the single gold pendant I can probably find a vintage or antique example I like. For the silver pendants having them all matching would probably be ideal since they’d go to three sisters. That way no one could get upset if they got one they didn’t like as much as one that someone else got. I’ve never liked Pandora stuff but their pendants actually seem very modestly priced vs. other websites I saw. Wondering if anyone knows a good option for purchasing pendants that could be engraved? Ideally I could fit “in memory of A.B.C. 19..-2025” but just the initials and years could work too. Just looking for some reasonably priced options if anyone knows any off the top of their heads?

There are lots of people on ebay who offer engraving services. You upload them a photo. they can engrave in glass, granite, metal. including photographic realist engraved in granite or wood. you can get a cheap granite tombstone or plaque laser etched with a photo pretty cheaply. small private artisans doing this via ebay with the engraving machines at their homes.

I don't know much about modern pieces; if it was made after 1980 it's out of my wheelhouse. In the old days, Things Remembered in the shopping mall used to good trade in custom-engraved things like that. OTOH I just looked on the website, and sticker shock isn't in it. That said, new sterling jewelry is going to cost a lot these days, one reason I don't but any.

Second thought - look on Etsy. That's where the crafters hang out.

Why not buy pendants for engraving at a jeweller who also engraves wedding rings, and have the pendants engraved by them?

Yeh I wouldn’t really consider new if it wasn’t for the desire to get multiple identical pendants. If there was ever a situation to spend more than I usually would I guess this is it.

I’ve heard a lot about it but I haven’t personally visited the site. It’s an interesting concept. I participated in some live FB auctions during lockdown. They were kind of fun. Mainly I’m just hoping to browse some pretty pendants that I can buy multiples of if I find a design I like. At a semi reasonable price. I see many that are like $200-$300+ for like $5-$10 worth of silver. I guess that’s probably normal but it’s shocking compared to what I’m used to.

How big would a heart shape need to be to accommodate what you want to have engraved? I'm seeing what are described as 'silver flat heart charm' for reasonable prices on eBay.
