Such a charming little nesting basket from recent estate. Do you think it was made like this or did someone enhance it? Has anyone ever seen similar? Thanks!

If I was a basket artisan, the lid decoration is exactly what I would add to insure that my basket would sell fast. it's so so sweet!

I vaguely remember those. 1960s I think. Imported that way.

I don't think those are new. Nothing coming out of China these days has that delicacy of workmanship.

    Wow, very similar.

Not sure about the filling in the strawberries... they seem like they might have that kind of filling but they seem a little small to use for needles, or delicate or something, but who knows!

Thanks for the thoughts so far on this, everyone. :)

Holy smokes! $245.00, for that money you could rip the strawberries off the top of the basket and sell it separately.

Emery-filled strawberries are used for sharpening sewing needles. You push the needle in and out a few times while rotating it. That's why there is often a little strawberry hanging off of the classic tomato pincushion.
If your strawberry is filled with emery, it would feel like it's packed with sand.
(Sorry, my post earlier in this thread was misleading. I've now edited it.)

I used to have one of these until I no longer had it. Can't remember where it went.
