Just got these shades for this Harvard student lamp, and I have to say that they look pretty good! But the question is: are they antique or reproduction? That they look good matters most, but we antiquers like to have the "real deal." I was assured that they were "vintage," as in more than 50 years old, but I'm not sure that helps a whole lot. Anyway, your wisdom is appreciated!

Are they cased.... meaning a two layer glass, yellow over white. I have a repro pair of these in green which is a painted process. A good pair of antique cased shades can be pricy. My newer pair look good, but real cased shades will definitely be nicer.

@Drew Definitely yellow over white, but appears (?) to be painted (?). The marks on the rim are brownish and look to be abrasions.

The clear distinction of yellow and white glass seems it would be 'cased' with no paint. A further test is to see if paint can be scratched off the outside. it's difficult to tell from the photos . . . a person near you who knows glass could tell in a second which they are. At any rate, it's a wonderful lamp and the shades do look good on it.
