Maybe not a goldmine, but worth a lot more than the price paid.
The painting is watercolor 6" x 4 1/2". Looks like original frame maybe 50s or 60s?
It is a scene from the Scenic drive Monterey California. Even written on the back "Pathway scenic drive."
    Thanks for looking.

This is a lovely water color, I would have snagged it too. It's very small, do those measurements include the frame?

Nice find! That sure is a lovely place: trees water rocks sky, some sea otters in the kelp.

I wonder if they painted a greeting card. That's about the size of a watercolor card blank.

Handwritten notation in ballpoint or felt tip?

    Thanks for the replies.
That is the size of the painting not the frame.
I don't know if it is a hand painted greeting card, and I'm not going to remove it to find out lol.
The notation is in ballpoint I think.

Carmel's 17-Mile Drive. Ballpoint would date it through the 1960s.

The paintings I mentioned are all larger works. The smallest one on the site (watercolor, 8 5/8" x 11 1/2") didn't sell.

It's also a less developed work. Not surprised that Mission Carmel realized the most. If you post a close-up photograph of the two children, we may be able to narrow the time frame based on the silhouette of their clothing.

    Thank you @Marote
I did research hours before I posted here and saw all of those and the measurements. Like I said in my first post. I know it not a gold mine. But for the price you can't go wrong.

@Debora thank you very much. I am pretty sure it's 60s. Her and her husband had a studio gallery in Monterey from 1960 till the 80s.

I have a lot of fond memories from my childhood and teens in the Carmel, Monterey areas. I even surfed at Carmel Beach. I had the best parents, roadtrip, vacations, camping. I miss those times.

It's a beautiful part of the world. And one with an interesting history. Since its founding in 1770, Monterey has actually been ruled by four different countries -- Spain, Argentina, México and the U.S.

And a major part of California history. 21 Missions, 30 miles apart 650 miles. I don't remember how many I've been to but it was quite a few.
