    Hi all,

Thank you for your comments and insights on the previous items posted. I'm still very much a newcomer to the forum and love the depth of knowledge and passion here.

I present you all with this interesting pair of earrings that I picked up. I bought them for no other reason than I liked their look and feel. As you will see, they are marked 925, India and another mark that is not at all familiar to me. They weigh about 7 grams and measure 18mm x 15mm.

Your insights and feedback are very much welcome. Among other things, I wonder if the stone is amethyst or dyed quartz (or something else)?

*An extra-ordinarily random thought, but some comments are so helpful and thought-provoking that I wish there was an App that connected one to decent cafes across the world and I could buy some of you coffee and cake on me. Alas, if any of you visit the Yorkshire Dales, drop me a message and it will be my pleasure to do so in person!

    With warmest regards,
    Adam.

There is no reason to think they are not amethyst. It's plentiful on the planet, and I don't think there's any way to dye colorless quartz to this nice deep shade of purple.

Gorgeous earrings Adam. Very traditional Indian work, but made in the 1970s or so.
The other mark is a maker's mark. The maker will be difficult to find.
    Agree.

I think they're later than the 70s. They may have been done in India for a manufacturer or retailer. If so, then someone may find the mark.

I’d say carved amethyst. And very nice too.
