    Hi folks

a cool find i picked up last week

haven't tested it yet (run outta)

got a seriously cool marbled look to the plastic though :woot:

the lines in the handles make me think deco or 40s

    any info appreciated

no need for contrasting :inpain: not as vibrant as the mirror, but just feels and looks like the same type of plastic, feels brittle as well

If it's celluloid, that's not impossible. It's highly flammable.

I'd take some baking soda and a q-tip, or just a good thumb, to those and find out. Mothball smell = camphor = celluloid. Formaldehyde = PHEW! = catalin/bakelite. If the cotton swab turns red or the color of the plastic, it's dyed something but bakelite it's not. The mirror is big enough that I'd start with a hard rubbing with my thumb; heat and friction can raise a stink too.
