New, plastic, the ubiquitous 'Headband Girl', as I call her. She appeared after WWII.

She's getting on now, but the 30s onward are new to me.

Have to admit, I haven't seen her quite like this before, trying to look like mourning jewllery.

There have been some attempts to make her look really, really old:

    Thanks :)
O well, I bought this with a few more items, and based on what I paid in total, I can say it was/is an inexpensive nice piece of plastic

Put it on a slender black velvet ribbon & prepare for the compliments when you wear it. :)

Looks like black glass to me, conchoidal fracture at the hole.

I think you're right. Where there is chipping it does look more like glass, which would make sense, given that other examples are glass of various kinds.
This isn't conchoidal, but it is a case of plastic fracturing with a smooth rounded edge. This is just how it looked when I picked it up off the floor where the cat had knocked it:

Yet the bits that came off were like shards.

I actually think she looks better in black. And the 'rays' around her have a pharaonic look. Maybe infuenced by Egyptian Revival?
Oh, go on, just wear it.:playful:
    Ditto.

errr... (let me think...what's a credible excuses... Ah, yes, I know...)

I'm broke! Bought too many things lately, and now I don't have enough money to buy the ribbon.
(and now let's hope AJ won't donate the ribbon, or start a crowdfunding campaign :nailbiting:)
