Featured Help to ID an old Porcelain Mark

Does anyone recognize this old porcelain mark? The seller says it's Meissen but I don't think it is. Thanks for your help.



Here's the whole piece. I think there must have been a smoker in this house or it hasn't had a wash for quite some time. I think it's supposed to be white. This is the best photo I can get.

Well, Sevres type mark. but not Sevres. Late 19th c IMHO, and probably not white, but blush ivory, peach blush, etc which were fashionable at that time.

 

Thank you, crs and kent. AI said the mark was Meissen haha. I found the almost Sevres mark on line but the items just didn't strike me as being Sevres. I like the item so I might go for it and it also comes with some glass items (on line auction). I'm dying to wash it! Surely, it's pretty under all that muck. Should you buy something just to wash it?

It's a local auction that I would drive to pick up, not too far, in a neighborhood where I lived as a kid.

Between the fake Sevres mark and the cigarette uck, it should be affordable. If you want it, go get it.

 

I have, a number of times, & usually been pleased with myself for doing so. I have shown these pix a few times, but they are a good illustration of what a difference a bath can make.

"Buy something just to wash it", Heck yeah! I've found that if you think something might be fabulous after a cleaning, it usually is!

I, too, am often tempted to buy cameos to wash them!
One of my examples, Antinous, pre- and post-bath (which I, too, have previously shared):
Maybe we should start a "Before/After" thread, it's so satisfying!

If it's just grime and cigarette smoke, warm water and dish soap will suffice. If you get the tazza, come and share a pic of it cleaned up!

 

I didn't get the tazza. There were also 3 Waterford Alana Shot Glasses in that lot and the person who outbid me is a Glass hound. If I had bid and won anything else, my bet is that I could have purchased the tazza from her for very few dollars. She also bought several lots of Nachtmann stemware that was beautiful, 12 each of white wines, 12 each of red wines, 12 each of champagne/sherbets, and 6 large brandy glasses - very cheap. If I were still selling on ebay, those glasses would not have been as cheap. The timing of the auction was also poor, not enough bidders, I guess because of the holiday or maybe traveling.
