Crochet and Shell Headgear

    Google search turns up examples said to be vintage 1970s. Does anyone have any familiarity with a decorative headdress such as this? It is obviously "ethnic", but I don't believe it is actually tribal. The black base fabric is crochet, made with what looks like a synthetic cordage.

    I think it's even newer than that. It's pure Disco Goddess, but the cording/shell thing doesn't look that old. I'd say 90s or even later.

    It would be a killer piece for someone with alopecia or chemo hair loss.

    Love the Headgear,but really like the sculptural hatstand.
    Not to derail-but where did you find that stand ?

    Well, I found the metal stand at the Goodwill awhile ago. I have no idea what its original purpose was. It just has a flat square of metal on the top. No sign of a spike that might have made it a candle stand. I inverted one of our chili bowls on top to hold the headdress.
