    Hi all,

I am trying to pin down the date of this silver ladle with a (broken) bone handle. It is said to be 18th-century, but I'm dubious because I have not seen other 18th-century ladles with the bowl attached to the handle by rivets. The silver also seems to be too thin to be that old.

Any help getting a date range on this piece would be a huge help! (Ignore the white square on the back. It is covering a label.)

And isn't the label covering the hallmarks / maker's mark?

Unfortunately, it's not a hallmark, just some damage.

Yes, that is unusual. Also the fact that part of the handle is flat. Maybe an antique repair?
Maybe @Ownedbybear can take a look.:)
Looks like ebony to me. The handles on these toddy ladles are often wood.
