This huge, 38-inch long correspondent / spectator shoe appeared recently in a local antique shop. It appears to be made from leather, just like a real shoe. I have to confess, I’m sorely tempted to give it a new home!

Why am I suddenly seeing a little kid in a mob cap posing with it? Or an old lady? :p:p

For those that have difficulty seeing the tag, it says:
"Rare 1920s trade shoe from a Montreal museum collection."
    How neat!
What are they asking for it?

It’s not cheap - the price on the tag is $1600 CAD, so about $1160 USD. I have no idea if this is a good price or not as I can’t find any sold comparables!

I dig old signage, product mascots, graphic design,etc-these def qualify somewhere between Pop-Art & Carnival Sideshow weird, there's probably more than one collectors group out there for ginormous shoes (FB,etc).
Mind-Not talking about a fetish here (or did I just put my foot in my mouth)?

I had to google that.;) There is an old Dutch tradition of putting a sail on a clog so children have a toy boat, maybe that inspired it.

    No maybe. Wikipedia:

"Wynken, Blynken, and Nod" is a poem for children written by American writer and poet Eugene Field and published on March 9, 1889.[citation needed] The original title was "Dutch Lullaby"

I saw the Wikipedia page, but didn't read all of it, just the "Dutch Lullaby" bit and that the names (references to sleep) were supposed to sound Dutch.
Was it inspired by the Dutch toy?

Dutch people rarely pronounce the final 'n' in a word that ends with 'en', and Dutch names rarely have a 'y'. So to us it would be Winke and Blinke.:D
