What is this? A small chocolate pot?

    It looks like it was used as restaurant ware since all of the silver has worn off. If this were porcelain, I would say yes, a chocolate pot. If used in a restaurant, it could also be used for coffee. Wait for others to give opinions, as I'm no expert.

    I always thought of those tall-ish side-handled pots with low set spouts as coffee pots. I believe chocolate pots have the shaped spout at the top edge so as not to pour chocolate sludge into the recipient's cup. And true antique chocolate pots also had a hole in the lid, sometimes under a hinged finial, for frequent stirring of the contents with a molinet (a wooden whisk/stir stick).

    I agree it's not what we'd usually think of as a creamer. Probably for a hot drink. Also it has some weight to it. A little over a pound.
