The painting is 5" x 7" oil on board. business card on back, I did find an obit but wasn't sure it was her. I was very attracted to her style and bright colors. plus, I love Strawberries

Hard to tell--- is it mixed media?

A happy spring / summer image. Should sell well.

I Like it! I know nothing about art, but I know what I like. I like the texture and the almost 3 D effect. I would have bought it too!
Interesting that the phone number on the card has no area code.
I wish she/ he would have signed the painting itself too.

It's not mixed media. Just thick paint. There is a term for it.

I found her. The address was her home and she passed in 2008. I haven't found any other paintings by her though.

i really like it......but don't know quite what to make of it either :bucktooth:

can only think that she's used the other side of the brush (round blunt end) to add texture to the wet paint, giving that effect

    it works though !

    I think it is charming.
Looks like she used something on the base colour in places to make it wrinkly like that, and then painted the stawbs over it. Whatever she used, it works.

its not particulary easy to paint a small segment (of something) like that (and for it to succeed)

so what ever she has done is quite brilliant in a way

I think your painting shows signs of having paint thickly applied that has shrunk as it dried, creating the wavy texture seen here. Whether or not it was intentional, I can't judge. It is not a standard artist's technique.

I've never seen anything quite like that surface texture on a painting.
