Help with painting's artist Mcknight - not Thomas!

I found this at a thrift store today. Everytime I tried an image search with McKnight it came back that it was not Thomas McKnight - which I knew.
But something about it made me want it even without knowing who the artist was. And when I asked my friend who is the manager there how much? He told me $50 - I asked him "why?" It's not a known artist and I'm not sure it's not a child's painting?
His response was "I've been doing this 30 years and it's not a child's painting. Its got a presence (or something like that, I don't remember exactly).
So I bought it (he knew I would; he's told me before I have an addiction - usually when I'm there waiting on him on some early mornings!)
Does anyone know which McKnight painted this?
Any thoughts on it? Likes?

Could be a mcknight wannabe? Style is close? Signature is close? I do not know. Needs an expert eye.

That's not a child's painting. Unless said child was studying atmospheric perspective on his mother's knee.

that's too close to be anything but a match.. imo
