Hi all! I was wondering if anyone could estimate how old these are and possibly where they’re from. I’m not sure what material they are, though it seems like there is a mark on it.

The upside down and backward wires are like what the Victorians did, but these aren't made like Victorian earrings. THe mark.... AD+ ???? My bet would be 1990s costume.

ADT? I could only find ADT as a mark on Thai (ear)rings, but those were also marked with Thai or Thailand

    And is this a mark?

It would have to be a lowercase t - not crossed at the top. The other two letters are capitalized, so I figured the plus sign had better odds of being correct.

Back to front hook and maker's mark AD+ or AD* only. If only the mark was A*D!
They were born ca 1900 and I'm pretty sure they speak with a German accent.
    They are also filthy.:(

Im considering purchasing them but wanted to get an idea if it might be a modern gimmick or something more interesting. The clasp looks promising so is the filth to be honest hahaha.

The earrings are definitely not modern Thai, they are antique European.
If the price is right and you can handle those back to front hooks, I'd say go for it.

I love back to front hooks. The piercing in my left ear is fiddly. It can be hard to find & hard to thread something through from the front. It is easier to snag the opening from the back & run the hook through from there. Often enough I have to put a post through from the back in order to see where to go from the front.

She's been on the site almost since it's existed. Unlike Americans, a lot of folks in the Netherlands read and write proper English.

I buy a lot from German and Austrian sites, so I know the style of (lack of) marking as well as the techniques used. Those two elements together are a great clue.:)

That only goes to show that the "anatomy" of the earlobes and the way they are pierced are important factors. I have fairly thick earlobes, and back to front hooks tend to get lost somewhere inside the earlobe.:inpain:

Solution that will make it much easier for you to get the hook through your ear.:
