I found a bag of these today. £3 for the lot. I nearly disregarded them at first as they were in a cellophane bag with a piece of card stapled on the top. I thought they were cake tins!

Four appear to be steel or chrome Perhaps. Two have the wording Marche Aux Vins Beaune, one Fleurie and the last Chateau De Meursaltu

Tastevins can be any silvertone metal, so you can judge the natural colour of the wine. The bumps are there for extra reflection of the wine.
Beaune wine market, Beaune is the wine capital of Burgundy.
Fleurie is a centre of Beajolais wine.
Chateau de Meursault is a castle and Burgundy wine.

Thanks. I can't find any marks on the group of four. They don't look much like silver either apart from their silver colour. :D

Those rectangular maker's marks are for silverplate.
French silver and gold have lozenge shaped maker's marks.

Most tastevins are not silver, but they have to be silvertone.
The ones we got for our wine advisers exam were base silvertone metal.

Okay thank you. The one I haven't posted says metal argente so that's silver plate too.

Ooh I like a drop of red wine. Here are a couple of my recent favourites.

Aren't those fun? Someone went on a little wine tasting tour and brought home souvenirs. Here's the Marche aux Vins Beaune. Logo has evolved so yours a bit older. (The tasting venue opened in 1976.)
