    Hello everyone,

I am looking for some guidance regarding a porcelain item that has been in our family for approximately 80 years. Given its age, I am curious to know whether it would be worth presenting at an auction.

If anyone has knowledge or experience with antique porcelain pieces, I would greatly appreciate your input. Specifically, I'd love to know:

    - How can I determine the value or authenticity of an old porcelain item?
    - Is age alone enough to make it auction-worthy, or are there other factors to consider?
    - Are there any reputable appraisers or auction houses you would recommend for porcelain pieces?

Any information or guidance would be very helpful. Thank you in advance for your time and expertise!

    Welcome @Mahmood
It appears to be a 19th century blue underglaze Chinese rice bowl or tea cup. As far as auction worthy, If you had a set of them maybe.

    Lovely blue.
The mark is off centre, which generally means no earlier than 20th century.
The spacing of the (partial) characters is very unusual for Chinese. That, together with this beautiful tone of blue, makes me think Japanese made in the Chinese manner.
There are auctions for all price ranges and for all sorts of items. Maybe you could be more specific as to where you would like to put it up for auction.

If you really want to put them to auction, you could look for a local auction house. No need to go to any of the big names, they wouldn't accept them anyway.
But I think you could fare better on a regular selling venue, where you can set the price and any negotiation is up to you.

I would pay attention to the brand and condition, as these have the greatest impact on the auction value.

I think you mean Western porcelain, like German, French, etc. Makers of this type of porcelain are not relevant to the value.
