Featured Pair of mini nankin vases

    I visited the Cancer Research shop on the way home today. It has been closed for refurbishment for a few weeks. I was pleasantly surprised. There were a fair few chinese pieces. Mainly vintage in the cardboard boxes with geometric patterns. You know the sort...

    I settled for these two little vases. They are 13cm tall. Nankin I think but lacking the brown mark on the base I am used to seeing. They also have what seem to applied salamanders. The heads look intentionslly deformed though. Like they were put through a pasta machine.

    Certainly looks like Nanking crackle ware.

    It does. Same palette, theme and brown lumpy bits.

    They are charming... I'm not familiar with this type of ware but like it.
