Stracci-Saul Bass was a pillar of mid-century design, kind of an Eames of graphic arts.

 

always wondered what THAT was

 

Used lots in the 30's, especially the old movie serials.

 

Funny that's mentioned, as I think the wipes were missing from Ep 1 and many got mad

You see them used in some of the Indiana Jones movies as well

Fan of any poster of a film my father was in. Here's a 80's French re-release of THE KILLING, a half grande size. Note they used an image of him from ASPHALT JUNGLE. very noirish graphic on this poster.

 

Did you get to be on any of the movie sets that he was on?

 

That's an amazing Kubrick movie and your dad was superb in it.Still-the scenes between your Pa as Gen Ripper & Peter Sellers as Mandrake in 'Dr. Strangelove' are really some of the most brilliant comedic moments in the history of cinema-immortal.

 

Yesterday someone very kindly gave me a 1982 TRON press photo. The back of the paper reads "this paper manufactured by Kodak". I'm seeing mixed details online about whether that means orig or reprint. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

In the Spring, Keith David will be in VA. I thought it would be neat to get an original poster from The Thing 1982 to have him sign. You know, the movie "nobody liked"?

Well, those posters start at around $600... guess I'll have him sign my VHS tape instead!!!

 

I am looking at a movie poster for my wife for her birthday. She will tell me she doesn't have room for it but I'm getting it anyway.

I love original movie posters and wish I didn't because they are so danged addicting!! I have one from a movie called "The Shadow of the Hawk" from the 1970s. It will never be worth anything but I watched that movie as a kid with my father, and saw the poster in a collectibles shop one day. The rest is history!!

 

Wahoo!!! I learned that they are FINALLY doing the third Conan movie with Arnold, so I scrambled to see if I could snag an original poster. I have one on the way for $60!!!

EDIT: I got the sequel poster also for $18!!! WOOT!!

So the sequel poster guy bailed on me, that was annoying.
