The first constitution of the Kingdom of Norway.:) I remember reading how they got it when Norway became Swedish, but had more say in their country than under Danish rule.

Indeed, I was in Vancouver for a while, and absolutely loved it there. That was long before I ever thought about moving to Norway.

I went to Vancouver about 20 yrs ago, accompanied my brother on a business trip. I loved it so much that I looked into the possibility of moving there. When I sent photos to my husband, he said "stay there, I'll join you".:playful:

They also have a copy of Den lille havfrue (the little mermaid), in Stanley Park as I recall. I took a helicopter trip round Grouse Mountain which was absolutely amazing. Hopefully, one day, I will go back again.

We went up Grouse Mountain in the aerial cablecar and had dinner on the summit. On the way up we saw wolves on the mountainside down below, one of them looked up at us. They didn't seem to mind us, so that is good.

Did you take a trip over the Capilano bridge? That is quite an experience. I didn't see any wolves, but was lucky enough to see a bear! We do have bears here, though I have never seen one. I have , however, been lucky enough to hear a wolf!

With apologies to Kraftblue, we have gone a bit off topic here it seems.

I am sure the view was magnificent from the bridge, but I get dizzy on manmade heights, tall buildings and the like. So no Capilano bridge for me.;) The cablecar was alright, because if I get dizzy at least I'm sitting down.
Mountain climbing was great while I could still do it, but I wouldn't walk over a bridge between mountains.

We don't have bears (yet), but we do have wolves. Our wolves are European though, different from the coastal wolves of Pacific Canada and Alaska, which are a specific and rare breed.

If you find yourselves in Vancouver, take the ferry to Vancouver Island and visit Victoria and environs. It sounds like you both saw a lot of Vancouver -- I've never been to the Capilano Bridge and Im a lot closer! I'm sorry to say that both Vancouver and Victoria have changed quite a bit over the last 20 years but so have a lot of places.

If I had had more time, I certainly would have. I don't think another trip to BC is on the cards now, or any travel for that matter. But good memories are worth a lot too.

For the benefit of those who do not know what we are talking about this is the Capilano suspension bridge. Some 170 metres long and 70 metres high. It is quite an experience, and not for the faint hearted, that bridge sways considerably, especially when you are out in the middle!

Meanwhile, back on topic....................I just saw this. A quick glance might suggest Danish, but again the lines are rather bold, and it is in fact German!

A quick story: For a wedding present, my grandparents received a Porsgrunds coffee set (I think they were married in 1916) decorated in the strawbloom pattern. They emigrated to Canada (New Brunswick) in 1929. My grandfather was carrying it in a box, he tripped, and it all "smashed to smithereens" as we say. The coffee pot was the sole surviver albeit with a couple of chips. A sad day and I should imagine that my grandfather was in the dog house that day! I still have the pot somewhere, LOL.

Meissen, Royal Copenhagen, et al -- a very popular pattern amongst factories in that region. Everyone loves blue and white it seems!:D

    @kentworld ,

That is a tragic story! Yes, I'll bet people were not happy with him for a good while afterwards!:(
I actually live not too far from the Porsgrund porselænsfabrik, and go past it quite often, though have never visited it. The same distance the other way is the famous heavywater plant of 'Heroes of Telemark' fame , and oddly, I have never visited that either. odd that we do not visit what is often on our own doorstep.

Same here.:shame: We leave that to tourists, even though we should visit them too, as part of our heritage. Although I must say that our parents took us to see a lot of the 'touristy' Dutch sites and towns.

Definitely not Royal Copenhagen quality but I would think German.
