Lastly, this thrift locks up any Barbie they think is valuable, even modern ones. She is a repro American Girl Barbie, and I know the repros, but I couldn't identify her. She came from this gift set. Here is a sold price from ebay, along with the sale price of a similar blonde repro. I have been looking for a vintage blonde for my collection, but this repro is gorgeous for $3.

I never saw the originals or the repro. Then again I was only into Barbie for making the clothes. I never was into the dolls.

I loved my Barbies. I prefer the brunettes, then redheads. My sister and I got the same dolls, but I got the dolls with brunette hair, and she got the dolls with blonde hair. Once in awhile, we got the same doll. Here are two original Barbie American Girls from my collection.

I went to a tag sale this morning that I was planning to skip. First of the year, but the house was built in 2023. I bought three unmarked silver bracelets of no huge whoop and a broken pin ...and a piece of my sister's wedding Pfaltzgraff. She got married in 1998 and the pattern was discontinued in 1998. I've found two other pieces in the wild in the last 20 years. Today, I found the third. A serving platter. Replacements wants $80 for it, and it SOLD on eBay for over $90. I paid $30 for everything.

My BiL picked it out, so of course the company stopped making it. Wedgwood doesn't make their formal china any more either, but that sits in a cabinet and makes them wonder why they bothered.

Is he Pope Paul VI, John XXIII or a different one? Us poor Protestants want to know.

Another thrift find, $10. Huge coin silver hot water pot with pseudo marks attributed to Frederick Marquand 1799-1882. It weighs 1,470 grams and had a sticker that said “not silver” and “$38”. Savers priced it $12.99 after my 20% coupon it was about $10. So presumably donated by a dealer after not selling.

Happy Holy Week to all. I went to my flea market yesterday, hardly any vendors, but there's this one guy who sells vintage costume jewelry for $5 a piece. He likes me, so he gives me a huge discount when I buy larger lots, which I did. Here are some of his items:
This bracelet is in rough shape, will take a sunshine cloth to it, gently.

I stopped at a St. Vinnie's down the road, left shaking my head. They wanted $8 to $13 for USED tops. I won't stop there again. I did stop at an antique mall, and a dealer was getting rid of their reference books, floor to ceiling bookcase FULL of books, mostly glassware books, but these were $12 each. I have 202 and 303....if you know, you know, especially 303 prices.

    Incredible, fabulous find!

Those pseudo-marks are tentatively attributed to Wm. Gale, with Marquand and others acting as retailers, as shown in McGrew's 'Manufacturers' Marks on American Coin Silver' (2004):
