Anyone know the specific test function of this ? It's circa 1900-25 upload_2026-4-8_12-23-17.jpeg

A guess: it's an Acetylene generator. It has an adjustable pressure release, governed by the sliding weight on the horizontal bar; a gauge redlined at what appears to be 1.4 atmospheres; an' a ribbed fitting with stopcock for allowing pressurized gas to be vented an' controlled. The vessel would have been filled with Calcium Carbide granules & water.
    Really neat...I like that thing...Thanks!

That is the name of the gauge itself; the OP has a gas-generating appliance fitted with, among other things, a Manometer.

Like...in that both have pressure regulators an' gauges. Yours has a pressure vessel which appears to have a jacket. Sterilization temperatures (pressures) far exceed those used in OP's tool. So like, in a superficial way, but no cigar.
