atlas1.jpg atlas2.jpg atlas3.jpg atlas4.jpg Found this old 1876 Atlas for Yates County NY. It is illustrated. It is original. I did get some information on it. Also has maps of NY State. Although I would love to know its value in case I decide to sell it I am not asking for it. Just thought I would share its beauty. I do live in Yates County. Many more pages than I am showing.

If you ever turn it loose, it will have an audience. That's way up in the Finger Lakes somewhere. There aren't a lot of locals, but New York anything attracts attention.

It is potentially quite valuable if it has cadastral information...there is high demand for such maps, I believe. Good luck!

Based on my experience with a very similar one and research I did for that one, they go for a few hundred especially in good shape. Yours seems a bit rough. Some sellers will take it apart and sell the individual maps - that’s kind of a tough slog. A few years ago Atlases like these were going a lot higher but things changed and like someone commented you can get a copy of many of these on DVD now if you’re just interested in seeing the images

The population of Yates County is just over 24,000 and it's quite centralized. Can't imagine there'd be much demand for individual pages.

Some people use maps for crafting.

Particularly Long Island. Lots of money there. Lots of folks interested in history too. Anything Long Island I take a logical price and multiply it 3-5x with success. I had a large atlas for somewhere on LI and got over 1k for it if I recall correctly. Way more than nearly any other location would have brought.

Typically they are worth at least 200-300 for old localized ones for most places. Sell it all ulilwitch. Do an eBay auction if you can’t find a comp. Eyes will almost always find a good old atlas.

The old ones always find a home. I picked up a road map of the eastern USA, made just before the highways went through. Retail wasn't high, paid 25 cents, but I didn't care since I handed it to a friend for Father's Day. His wife said he spent the entire afternoon with a friend poring over that thing and looking at the way things changed. Old maps find old map-heads.

I had no idea old NY maps are worth anything. I have a stockpile from my grandfather. Why he had maps I will never know he never had a drivers license.

New Yorkers like New York stuff, and maps are cool. They're a paper thing that gearheads like. My late grandfather never learned to drive, but he bought a car at one point. Why he wanted a car I'll never know, but he did.
