Good afternoon folks. I have this 10" tall x 6" diameter pitcher with silver overlay/deposit? I haven't had much luck in finding a match. Would anyone have any info on this? I also have a matching decanter. About 15" tall x 4 1/4" diameter. The decanter has a ground neck, ground stopper with a 3 etched on the bottom. Any assistance with an ID would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 20260417_105156.jpg 20260417_105217.jpg 20260417_105240.jpg 20260417_105256.jpg 20260417_105335.jpg 20260417_105345.jpg 20260417_105426.jpg 20260417_105434.jpg

Definitely silver deposit. Silver overlay is silver that is formed around the shape, it's thick enough you can get your fingernail under it. Silver deposit is very thin and attached to the glass.

Right click on the link, put your cursor in front of the second https (on the right), and delete everything in front of that.
Then left click on the url bar, and you should be able to see the listing.:)

Looks to me more like platinum decoration rather than silver - fired on like gold...

It doesn't surprise me that this glass is Czech. Or thought to be. One of the old timey and very knowledgeable glass guys who used to come into the mall I was at told me that most of the glass id'd as Dorothy Thorpe really wasn't. This was at the time when Mad Men was still on TV. He said this silver deposit glass was being imported "by the shiploads" but I don't remember what decade he said. IMO, both of these pieces are very attractive, but I really like the pitcher best. My dad had lots of decanters so I also now have lots of decanters and don't need any more, lol!

I bought some Dorothy Thorpe items for resale and would not want to actually own any. The silver was I believe Sterling, but was difficult to polish and impossible not to retarnish quickly. It drove me a little crazy but everyone wanted it for a while to use during their Mad Men viewing parties.
