I picked up a soapstone carved snake? or some kind of animal. It is 1 3/4" tall and about 8" long. The base is about 2" wide. There are no obvious marks that I can see. Was wondering if this is Inuit or maybe someone's homemade project? Has some weight to it.

My first thought was an Australian witchetty grub, the larva of a big moth.

It does appear to be soapstone, but I would think not Inuit or Native American.

Finally a creature that I could carve! If only the grub market were bigger!
