Military 1927 sports medal? Help

    Does anyone know anything about this medal please?

    it’s clearly 1927, swimming related - but is it military? British? Dutch? (my great grandfather lived in Holland) or somewhere else? I’d like to find out more about this.

    It says 40M = 40 Metres

    I dare say for the date of 1927 if it was British it would be in Yards
    Yards were used in athletics and swimming into the late 60's

    So continental European maybe French as 2E PR. likely stands for Deuxième Prix (Second Prize)

    Good information above. The laurel leaf crown also points to France. There's a signature; the name of the medalist could help confirm/identify its origin.

    I think I’ve figured it out Joseph Fisch - Belgian? Design looks the same as this

    2e pr. = tweede prijs = second prize
    S. sl might be schoolslag = breaststroke

    Exactly. Nic's grandfather lived in the Netherlands, and the abbreviations are in Dutch. So it stands to reason that it would be from NL or Belgium. Both countries are also on the Continent.;)
