I know better. It should be my fear. But I took precaution everything of value has already been listed in our estate to who gets it. Little by little my adult kids take some when they visit. The bulk will go to my grandkids held by my son who lives in the states for them as my other one lives in Europe. We did this many years ago after I contracted strep a&b & turned septic & our kids were little. My husband asked me what should I do with your things if - so we made a will. When my grandkids arrived we changed it again a few years ago my adults asked us who gets what so we went over what they each wanted & divided pretty equally of the wants. My jewelry will go equally to the 3 grands. Everything is listed & gets updated yearly. Problem solved.

If I die, she gets everything. We don't have kids, and really no family. My brother and sister are both older than me. Her brother is so well off, he let her have everything when their mother passed away. On her side, her Aunt who is 85 has some grand children. So, she'll probably leave everything to them. Though my wife is terrified of death, and the thought of a will is impossible. Seriously, it's a piece of paper. If we go at the same time, it just won't matter. Though I'm guessing funeral arrangements will be kind of hard. But, will we really care?

A while ago I picked up two books of an opera company in Philadelphia in the early 20s. I paid 80 cents each. On the front inside, the owner had put the date of the play, and the cast members signed by the role they played. The owner must have been a chorus singer, or bit player. One night in 1924 Nelson Eddy performed with this Philadelphia Opera Company, long before he became Jeanette MacDonald's film partner. This was a very cool find.

funny neither of us want a funeral we have told the kids go cheap keep the rest & enjoy. The bulk will go to my grandchildren. My kids did very well for themselves so I am more than comfortable leaving the bulk to the grands.

I'm leaving everything to my niece. She's the only one in the next generation, and once I'm gone I will no longer care. Dollar yard sale for the benefit of her former high school's art department? Rock on!

I'm in my sixties and I've still never written a will. Without one, everything will be divided equally among my three kids, which is what I'd do anyway. They handled this very type of situation well when their father, ex-DH, passed away a couple years ago so I know it won't cause squabbles. When he went, I advised them to do a walk-through of the home together, take what little they each wanted, and hire an estate sale company to sell the rest. It worked out well. It helps that they get along well together.
Nevertheless, I do plan on writing a simple will "sometime" because it may make some things easier legally. I admit that I don't know much about all of that, though.

When it ends up in a thrift shop, I'll look for it for you. No one was paying that much for a book at a PA sale. I at least knew what it was.

We don't want a funeral either. It's such a waste of money. Though I've heard just a simple pick up and cremation is getting outrageously expensive.
You can actually do it online now. You'd have to print it and have it notarized. It's not that expensive.
