What to look for in blue glass

I bought this large reeded blue glass bowl. The bottom is smooth so I assume it's not blown. What else should I be looking at? How do I tell collectible glass from mass produced cheap glass?

I started by settling on a particular subclass of glass that appealed to me and then studying it as much as I could. There are many reference books, facebook pages, and other resources that can help you get started. Eventually I settled on American and French art glass and paperweights. I have champagne tastes on a box wine budget but I score a few bargains every now and then and get to see a lot of very lovely pieces from other collections in the meantime. In addition to this page I belong to probably a dozen Facebook groups who specialize in these areas. It's a constant learning experience but a lot of fun. I learned how to resell to help support my habit. And again there are Facebook groups that can help you learn the ropes.

My impression of this bowl is that it is mass produced. The reeded look seems molded to me rather than hand applied. Just as an aside, there is nothing wrong with collecting cheap mass produced glass. You just have to be selective or you'll be quickly overwhelmed. The best advice I ever received is to collect what you like.

I really feel the need to brag on antiquers.com for a little bit. This group exposes you to collectors and experts worldwide and some of the nicest and most patient folks you'd ever want to meet. If there is something to be known about an object you're most likely to find the answer here.

Thank you! I agree, it's an amazing site with a wonderful group of experts and I've learned here more than anywhere else.
About the "cheap mass produced" - you have a point. I am just trying to develop an eye for hand made glass.

A Google Images search will bring up a number of (what appear to be) identicals. That would indicate mass production.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything with this fine reeding and bell shape but the algorithm has its own ways.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

That sounds like a great use for it. Earlier you wrote that it's large. What is its size? The color is lovely.
